Resistance against National Socialism
During the Nazi era, there were many forms of resistance in Germany and the occupied neighbors. This included support for threatened people, distribution of leaflets, acts of sabotage, aiding escapes, and assassinations, led by groups such as the White Rose and Jewish organizations such as Chug Chaluzi. Armed uprisings occurred in numerous ghettos, including the Warsaw Ghetto, while resistance groups disseminated information about the death camps. Even in concentration camps, prisoners organized resistance, from clandestine messages to uprisings such as those in Treblinka and Sobibór. In Auschwitz-Birkenau, an uprising of Sinti*zze and Rom*nja prisoners took place in 1944.
