There are currently over 12 million people living in Germany without German citizenship, including 1.5 million who do not have a German passport even though they were born here. The short film ‘The right to have rights’ encourages us to reflect on the meaning of citizenship, statelessness and life with a tolerated status. It shows the struggles of refugee and non-refugee migrants, BPoC and/or Rom*nja and Sint*izze for equal rights in Germany and asks how we can work together for a society in which the right to rights applies without restriction. It was produced as part of the campaign ‘Pass(t) uns allen’ by With Wings and Roots e.V. and RomaniPhen e.V.
