Announcing the With Wings and Roots BLOG!

Welcome to our new website for With Wings and Roots*–a network of media makers, scholars, activists, and community members working to bring new impulses to conversations on migration, citizenship and belonging! We are so excited to share this beautiful upgrade.

As part of relaunching the site, we have created a new blog. We will use this space to deepen conversations in the written word–inviting new voices and long term collaborators to chime in.

We will explore the core themes of our work, based on values that ground us: centering voices that are systematically marginalized by migration and racism, valuing complexity, bringing in intersectional and international perspective, cultivating solidarity and belonging for all.

• Wings & Roots: reflections of personal journeys into identity and belonging, with an emphasis on migration, diaspora, racism, citizenship
• Reimagining Belonging: explorations of how to challenge rigid boundaries, decolonize our lives, claim political and cultural space, visioning new forms of citizenship
• Narratives of Migration: Critical, global and intersectional reflections on contemporary immigration politics
• The Practice and Process: learnings from our own collaborative, creative work and network

We want to shout out the dedicated agency who has worked with us to build this site: Blackslash Seven, in Berlin. It is great to collaborate with a team that aligns with our goals of social justice and transformation.

*You may have noticed some name changes. We renamed the feature-length film FROM HERE and brought back the original name (With Wings and Roots) for the larger initiative. The previous name of our site – Reimagine Belonging – continues to be one of our taglines, provocations, and the name of the collection of STORIES found here.
